Damian Gaskin
Why vote for me?
☑ Just like you I live in the Batchwood ward, which means I care deeply about the streets that we live in.
☑ You may have seen me litter picking on a Saturday or Sunday morning with my big orange bike. Our volunteer team have cleared Oyster Fields, Everlasting Lane, New Greens and Batchwood of years of rubbish.
☑ I campaigned for safer roads near our schools – read about it by clicking this link
☑ I am independent and free to stand up for the issues that matter to you. I am not restricted by party politics.
☑ I am focused on getting things done to make our neighbourhood safer and stronger – please read my bio, below, for more examples

Who am I?
I’m Damian Gaskin. You’ll often see me in the community – do say ‘hello’ or flag down my big orange bike! I have a diverse background as a Communications Consultant, Environmental Activist, Community Events Organiser, and a former science teacher at Townsend School.
I moved from Manchester to St Albans in 2009 so my sons could live with me after my divorce. I’ve lived in New Greens in the Batchwood ward since 2017.
I founded the ‘Monday Suppers’ at Christ Church in High Oaks in response to the cost of living crisis. It’s been running for 182 consecutive weeks since 2022. It’s served 18,000+ free hot meals, and is open to everyone – young, old, families or those feeling alone.
For the last 13 years I’ve taken part in the ‘Sleep Out’ supporting and raising money for those experiencing homelessness.
I’m a parish councillor for St Michael Parish Council since 2024. I’m a committee member of New Greens Residents Association. I’m a supporter of young people through the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. I won the St Albans Ember Eco Award this year.
How can you help me?
- Could you display a poster? An A3 poster in a front window (ideally first floor) really helps raise awareness.
- Deliver leaflets? Even covering one road to your neighbours really makes a big difference.
- Spread the word? Have a quiet word with friends or neighbours.
- Donate? Contributions (no matter how small) help cover printing costs. Contact me to donate.
- Or just get in touch? All messages, ideas, concerns are very welcome.
Please get in touch. I’d love to hear your views!
